The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (acronym SSVP) is a lay catholic organization whose mission is:
To live the Gospel message
by serving Christ in the poor
with love, respect, justice and joy
The Mission of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul implies that as Vincentians, we:
see Christ in anyone who suffers
come together as a family
have personal contact with the poor
help in all possible ways
St. Vincent de Paul at St. Ann's Parish
There are two envelopes in the parishioners’ box of contribution envelopes for collection twice a year. Therefore, we have the financial resources to give a “hand up” to anyone locally who needs a little support for groceries, furniture or emergency issues. We have a great team of volunteers who normally will visit the person requesting some help. We believe in making personal contact, because each person is “the face of Christ”. Volunteers are always needed. If interested please contact the parish office.
Many parishes have a local “conference” of SSVP, and the city has two “councils” of SSVP. Leaders from the councils gather on a regular basis for Ontario Regional meetings, and annually there is a National AGA – just held in Hamilton in June 2015!
Hospitality Sundays – every third Sunday of the month from September to June, our St. Vincent de Paul Society of our parish hosts a hospitality coffee Sunday. Our volunteers will serve beverages and cookies following the Sunday 10am Mass. It is a time of fellowship and any free will offering is appreciated towards their charitable works.
